Weekend Update

My reading of Starting Strength is progressing quite nicely. I’m almost done on the chapter of squats. A few days ago, I quickly went through the power clean section and couldn’t believe the wealth of information I absorbed. Mark Rippetoe is one hardcore mothertrucker. Everyone who trains at the gym should do themselves a favour and *must* read this book. For their own sake.

I started rereading Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich book today, and absolutely love it. I needed to refresh my memory about Dr. Hill’s secrets.

I got my license renewed this morning. 15 points under my belt now. Hoorah!

Starting Strength

Yesterday night was my first day on the Starting Strength routine by Mark Rippetoe. It is quite an enjoyment to workout now. I really can’t wait to see how my brother and I will turn out in a few months. The book I had ordered from Amazon came in today, so I need to start reading it right away (I’ll start now!) and get my strength training knowledge up to par.

Overtraining

Lately, I think I have been overtraining at the gym and it’s becoming apparent. I’m having a bit of trouble sleeping at night and I feel like garbage as of late. Thankfully, my workout program cycle ends December 1st (Friday) so I’ll be taking a week off and then start a new program on the 11th. I’m looking forward to the break and program change.

Progress

My strength gains at the gym are starting to surface, and this is making me very happy. It took me exactly four weeks to get back to my original strength since I had left the gym more than a year ago. This Max-OT program really does kick ass and I encourage everyone to try it if they want some strength gains. Of course, proper dieting and discipline plays a major role when it comes to working out.
I need to start implement some squats in my routine now. I look forward to tomorrow’s leg routine.
